In the real ancient world, leaders were overthrown. So, it is a legitimate idea in our Room14 city-states, BUT we don't want to hurt feelings or make it about popularity.
What are your ideas about how it could be done? or Do you have any comments about this topic in general?
Please be respectful in your comments....and remember physical violence it out of the question. :)
Please post below and have an online conversation while I "listen."
The overthrow could be rock-paper-scissors, but you would have to have specific reason for the overthrow (Ms. Ullner would decide if the purpose is reasonable).

It could be Tick-Tack-Toe wars held at recess time in-class King/Queens are the players. King/Queens have to decide when they will battle(day, week,etc.). Ms. Ullner will have to aprove the chalenge.

Maybe, just maybe, we have half of our civilization agree that we need a new king (or whatever they may be) and then put a sticky note on the kings, queens, etc. saying, "We loved you as our king but we must give someone else a turn."
ReplyDeleteeach city state will compete in prison ball/ volley ball/ flag football. the winner competes with the next city state.the loser does double dream feet, which will be recorded on Ms.U's blog, homework that night will be to comment, but only like "they look funny" and stuff. the final winner will get two donut passes and a mercy pass if they want. =)
ReplyDeleteThat is very rude, why do you think that would be good? :(
DeleteUhhhh I don't know about that... Maybe, It is hard for me understand. Well idk! :/
DeleteI also think that would be VERY rude. If I were the person douing Double Dream Feet, reading all of those comments would be VERY disheartening.
DeleteHow is telling people that they look funny nice?
Deletehow does that overthrow kings?
Deletegee! i'm sorry! I didn't think that would be so rude! i'm sooooooo sorry!!!! :(

When I said the thing about the comments, I didn't mean it that way!I meant like, positive comments! Not disrespectful!
DeleteY'all take stuff too seriously...I thought it was kinda funny:) Have an awesome year in Room 14 - Ms. U is AMAZING!
Delete-a former Room 14-er
I think we could have a variety of sports games. But the team/group that wins the most games will overthrow the other group. Then the overthrown peeps could join the other two groups according to their choice. That way they can't be angry with anyone for whose side they're on.
DeleteI actually don't know why i was apologizing, i thought it was pretty funny that practicably everyone was against me!XD
DeleteI agree with Elisabeth. :) It would be less 'hurtful' and stuff if we did that; it sounds more respectful. On the other hand..the competition does sound fun. I don't know! :p they're all fantastic. Just putting in my 2 cents.

As an Assyrian loyal to king Damian, I am against overthrows in our city-states, HOWEVER, I think the current king/queen and the person who wants to gain that power should have a tame and respectful debate with other members of their city-states as an audience.(Ms. U should also supervise) At the end, each member of the city-state will vote for the candidate they think is better fit for the job.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Desdamona. I think it would be fair if we just vote for who we want to be King/Queen.
DeleteI think that there should either be some sort of competition or an election. You know? We could have like what Des said. I'd really like to overthrow a nameless someone like that...........
ReplyDelete-Zoe =p
I say we should have an election, but if you wanted to run for leader and you weren't already king, you should give Ms. U a 1 paragraph paper on why you should be king. That way you wouldn't always run for king.
ReplyDelete-Will
a double dream feet dance off!!!
ReplyDeleteAfter mine being so terrible, I totally agree with him!

I think some of the Kings/Queens are power hungry and greedy, presently I agree with Desdamona's debate idea its fare and square.
ReplyDelete-Elizabeth #11
I agree with Desdamona. After the debate, we will vote who will be king/queen. It's fair and square just like Elizabeth said.
ReplyDeleteI think that we should tell our city state what we will do to be good and then the ppl in the city state will vote.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Des's idea. That seems like a fair way to shift power. I also agree with Elisabeth's idea. It seems like a way to shift power without hurting that person's feelings.
ReplyDeleteI think we should be able to over throw kings.
ReplyDeleteBUT.... I do remember we had a rock, paper, scissors contest for king/ queen. I do have some ideas though! This is hard to explain, so here is and example. (First idea)
*Person tells Ms. Ullner that they want to overthrow a king/queen.
* Rock, paper, scissors match. (Ms. Ullner must watch so nobody tries to cheat. I know 14ers won't though! :D)
* If queen/king wins, they stay ruler.
* If overthrower wins, they rule for (maybe) a few days.
(second idea)
Each city-state already has a king. For the other people who want to rule, they can pay script. (Ms. Ullner chooses price)
OR!.....nvm... :D :) Thx!
-Rachael, the girl who types a lot...
Nice Rachel! (better than mine!)
DeleteThx! :3
