What a life!

When Mozart performed in homes, a bed similar to this was probably in one of the bedrooms. So I've added a playlist of piano sonatas to add to the historical mood.

This portrait might resemble the lady of the house:
Portrait of Anne, Countess of Chesterfield

Here are the questions:*What do you imagine it would be like to reside in a home like this?  You choose your role and do a bit of imagining.**  Is it a life you would like to have?

*Answer in full - 2+ - well-written sentences.
**While NONE of this is tested or crucial to making money or getting into Harvard or MLB, knowing/imagining/listening is all a part of being a creative, happy person!

  1. I would be the daughter of a courtier. Going about my life worry free and never knowing the feeling of a burden or chore. Servants take care of that sort of thing for me. My job is to be proper and enjoy my life as a noble, someone of importance. While it sounds great it isn't very easy to be proper and enjoy myself at the same time. I have a feeling it wouldn't be considered proper for a girl to almost everything I do. I guess it still is better than the peasants life though. I should be more grateful

  2. Life in this home is very uptight. Everything is valuable and I don't want to mess anything up so I act very fancy. The environment of my life is very proper and sometimes I just wish I could act casual and have some fun. It's better than most though. But still......

  3. It's very clean, I'd probably mess it up after one day, so that blue bed spread would be gray by the end of the week. I would want to be the baker (I'd cook deserts, breads, cakes, pies, and muffins) in the house because if the beds are really fancy, there must be a ton of cooking supplies with almost every ingredient imaginable. If I was the cook, I would love that life, but if I was the one living there with all the fancy stuff and being served and all, I wouldn't really like it, but if I just lived there, I might like it if no one minded everything being dirty. If it was my choice, it would definitely be the cook. Imagine all the cupcakes...........

  4. Everything in this house is fancy, so I have to act very fancy as well. Sometimes I wish that I could run through the house, touching everything. My life is better than the life of a peasant, but sometimes I just want to have fun in my own home.

  5. I would be a Noble of a king. Helping make big decisions and not having to worry about the little problems for I would have slaves for those jobs. I would be very wealthy and this bed may be a present for my wife or daughter.

  6. Being the wife of a noble is really hard. I have to wear big dresses that are pretty uncomfortable. Not only that, but I have to keep from knocking into anything with these fifteen foot dresses. I can't even imagine how hard it will be to keep my children from destroying anything too. I would have to always be prim and proper in front of guests, and take care of my husband. I have to endure giant meals, but always be trapped in a corset. It is horrible! Sometimes I wish I was just an ordinary girl.

  7. I would be, like Hallie, the daughter of a courtier. I would do what I like, but I would also have to be proper. All those manners to be memorized, well if I was born then I guess I it would just be normal but if i 'moved' there that would be a different story. All in all, it would not be the life I would want, even though it would be nice, I like the life I have.

  8. I would prefer to be a princess in a house like that, living my live with no worries. Although having to do all my father says know matter what, like being forst to marry someone I hate or don't even know.

  9. I would be the daughter of a courtier just like Hallie and Christy living in an elegant home. The bed would be my personal use and every day, maids would come into the room to get me ready for the day. Manners would be very important, so I would greet my parents as well as other important people with respect. This life would be really great for me, but my life is fine just how it is.

  10. I wouldn't survive acting prim and proper in a house like that for very long. No matter how hard I tried, I would knock something over eventually. Then I would run through the house, up an down hallways, explore different rooms, and maybe jump on that enormous bed. After that, I would get in SO much trouble. Finally, I would pout and wish my life was normal.

  11. A house like that would be very fancy, so it would probably belong to royalty, someone important, or someone who's very rich. It would be very nice to live in a household where I don't have to worry about anything, but I'm pretty sure I would get tired of it one day.

  12. I would be the King of the kingdom. Everyday I would sleep on this bed, use my handy desk, and make decisions for my kingdom. My maids would clean me, dress me, cook for me, and other asorted things. After a full day, I would settle down to sleep, and get ready for tommorows adventure.

  13. As the lady of the house, I would wake up every day in a pretty bed with maids by my side, ready to comb my hair and do other chores. My bed is fancy, with curtains for privacy; in fact, everything in the house is fancy. The people residing in the house were taught prim manners, so I act ladylike as well. It would be a little too elaborate for me, because I like to be comfortable and casual, instead of wearing extravagant dresses like a lady would do. Because of this, I would prefer not to have this elegant life, and choose to live my comfortable life.

  14. I would be a butler, and seve a queen in an Elegant house like this one shown in the picture. But eventually I would end up wanting to go back to my normal life, getting to play video games, and eating anything I want. Not these annoying pidgin dinners, or dainty little food. Even if everyone else wants to be a king, queen, noble, princes, princesses, or children of courtiers, I want to be a simple butler, like Alfred from Batman, without the action though.

  15. Aw! Come on! I spelled SERVE wrong!
Speaking of spelling stuff wrong, did I spell Pidgin right?

  16. I might be one of those guys that entertains people. I wouldn't live in a house like this, because I'm not into super fancy stuff. I'd want to be like the flame guy from Inkheart, where he kinda just drifts from place to place with no responsibilities or worries. That would be the life for me. But I would like to spend some time in houses like these. As long as I don't have to wear crazy dresses or act 'proper' or whatever.

  17. Also Devon, I'm pretty sure you meant 'pigeon'.

  18. It will be a difficult day tomorrow. I will be still forced to do many of the prim tasks made for any famous noble among the people. I do have some nice comforts to enjoy including my wonderful elegant and proper house. It is nice to have some enjoyments at the end of the day.

  19. ya it is gancy but i will feel to spoil and then keep it to myself. i wouldnt want to show off or anything. ill be kind of scared cause what if the top of it just fell. if i had that house i would be impress keeping it to myself and not show off. :{)

  20. I don't quite no a lot of well paying jobs in the 1700s would be but it looks really fancy. It reminds me of Kearney or Muex. You'd have to be rich to live in that house.

  21. Living in a home so perfect would be quite difficult. Anyone who lives like that must be wealthy or in a high position. Therefore, children would have to be the perfect angels they aren't, otherwise it causes shame on their parents. I would hate having people that expect me to act a certain way always watching me. I would destroy the "perfect" house and cause my parents to pay more than they make.

  22. To me it's to fancy you need to live simpler and not get caught up in showing off or demanding perfection. Also who needs the fancy it's more trouble than it's worth.

  23. it would be nice to have a house like this and id probably be a noble.

  24. I would be the servent to the lady in the picture because I would be able to live in the castle and eat for free. Also, I would get to be busy and not have to be bored all the time like the lady.

    1. I agree. You get the same living conditions and food as the rich people, but you don't have to be bored all day. You'd also be passing on all of the stress about "Oh no! My dad's making me marry this guy but I don't want to!" "I don't care if you don't want to, you're going to whether you like it or not."

BTW: this is my official response

  25. i would much rather be a servant to the prince or noble to the house because, like Liliana says you have free food and a nice place to sleep. With this prince/noble keeping me busy all day, i would get to learn new experiences and know secrets of the house that I can use against them if I get into any "trouble".

P.S. continuing on from "troble", ahh, ahh, ahh, trouble, trouble, trouble, ahh, ahh, ahh, trouble, trouble, trouble

  26. To live in a house like this you would have to be a wealthy person and have a wealthy family. I would be the lady of the house who had one of those high hairdos; I would marry another man who was as wealthy as me because that is what we people did in the olden days. The bed sheets would be made of colorful and shiny materials because it was a sign that I was a wealthy person. All the not wealthy people had to get a sack and put hay in it and make that their pillow and the ground was their bed. Clearly I would rather be a wealthy person for this reason, plus I could pay Bach to play in my large white house.

  27. I would be the cook of the house, serving up gourmet meals with the help of servants. Unless creating a meal, I wouldn't have much to do and I could just relax for the most part of the day. My kitchen would be huge and I would have ingredients from every corner of the world at my fingertips.

  28. Living in a house like this would be hard. I would probably not have a "royal" role because people wouldn't want me to ruin the fragile stuff. I would have to take some type of class to adapt to royal life. :)

  29. I would not be able to live in that house, but if I had to, I would be the butler. It would be hard not to mess up or break all of the expensive decoration in the house.
