What can a 11/12 year old get from this talk? or What can "someone" get from this talk this?
I think hungry means as long as you live you are hungry. So fulfill your life because you only live once. What I think foolish means is that always act childish. If you don't act childish, you won't make mistakes. If you don't make mistakes, you won't learn. So always act childish and follow your heart. What I think a 6th grader could get out of this is to always follow your heart, even if it seems foolish or childish, follow your heart. Not your hands, brain, or even common sense! Just your heart.
ReplyDeleteWhat I got from it was that we should go out and do what we want to do, only with things like careers and we shouldn't have to listen to things we don't want to learn or that we'll never use in life, which isn't that school?
ReplyDeleteAlyssa
After some extent, yes that is school. You can only get so far with "book smarts", and that's comin' from me.
DeleteSo what I took from the video is that you should always keep going to acheive happiness. It does not matter that someone tells you that you can't do something or that what you are doing is useless. Follow your passion, take risks, and finally, remember, YOLO! :P
ReplyDeleteI was wearing a YOLO shirt today... Of course. =3
DeleteI think Steve Jobs meant many things. Never stop trying to achieve you dreams or goals. Do what you want to do. If you want to become an actress, and you audition but don't get the part and all that other blah blah stuff, it doesn't mean that you are a horrible actress or actor. Okay, you may be sad for the next few weeks. (Or month...)Don't say, "Okay, I tried out. I failed. I'm not good at this. I will do something else, like... work at Mc. Donald's. (Which may not be a bad thing.)" Soon there will probably be another opportunity to be in the next Hunger Games movie, and you may get a role that time. Sometimes I hear about these stories like, oh, Madonna used to work in a Dunkin' Donuts, and yeah, most of the Steve Jobs video. Most of the famous (and used to be famous) people came from things you wouldn't expect. I DIDN'T FORGET that before Jennifer Lawrence was discovered as an actress, someone in like New York or something said she would be a perfect model. She was saying stuff like, "Okay, this may be my career." She later wasn't sure about it and got interested in acting. Her parents were saying that acting wasn't really her thing. Instead of listening to her parents, she went with her gut. She wanted to do what SHE wanted to do. Like everybody else, she probably made some mistakes. Did it change her life? No. Did it change my life? No. Jennifer Lawrence achieved her goals, and is still achieving more. YOLO. Make your life yours. If you decided not to read this paragraph (It doesn't really matter.) I will just say the summary and so on. Do what you want to do to achieve your goals, even if you make mistakes. You will learn from them. YOLO, so have fun living.
ReplyDeleteI actually did read the paragraph xD
DeleteYeah, I agree about the actress part. You can't just be bummed out about not getting the part.

''If you live each day like it will be your last, someday you'll most certainly be right."
ReplyDeleteSo, if you keep thinking: okay, if today's going to be my last day, what will I do? In a way, I think that means don't do bad behavior; in another way, I think that means don't be afraid to do it. Take risks, don't think: "You have something to lose."
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life."
That is, you only live a certain period of time. You don't live forever, your time is limited, so make the best out of it.
"Stay hungry. Stay foolish.''
Okay, so I believe that stay hungry means stay greedy for knowledge, opportunity, great options. Sort of like, always keep an eye out for cool options. Also, always snatch up opportunities, especially limited ones, or of the such, before someone else.
Stay foolish could mean make mistakes. Fail at things, because isn't failure the parent of success!? If you never fail, you'll never succeed. So always be looking to fail in life, and more importantly, LEARN FROM THE FAILS. Follow your gut, well that way you'll trust in yourself.
Joy
"Be hungry, stay foolish."
ReplyDeleteSteve Jobs didn't mean eat, and eat some more.
When Steve Jobs quoted "Be hungry," he meant DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELF to the possibilities. People may say,"You? You aren't smart enough to do this." or "You probably won't be able to, given the circumstances." Ignore them because they can be mean to you by tearing you down in a nice way or mean way. Not to sound rude, but what do they know. Do and believe in yourself enough to explore. So later in life, you won't have an excuse to ask what might-of-been.
BE FOOLISH! Making mistakes is something no one can avoid. In fact, making mistakes is something you should embrace. Making mistakes gives you wisdom and experience. Explore things through trial and error. When something finally works, see how you can improve it. Marcus Tullius Cicero, a Roman philosopher, said "Any man can make mistakes, but only an idiot persists in his error." So just make sure you don't repeat your mistakes.
That's a great quote.

I really like what he said, "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life."
ReplyDeleteThis is a great quote in my opinion. To me, it means we only live once in the world, so don't waste your life. Follow your dreams and not others. Stop being who someone wants you to be but be the person you want yourself to be.
When Steve Jobs said, “Stay hungry. Stay foolish." , I didn't really understand. But after thinking, "Stay hungry" to me means that always get ready for new challenges, knowledge, etc. Never stop getting ready for new things because every day, new things come. Stay foolish meant always make different mistakes, to me. Without mistakes, I don't think you can stay hungry. Like everyone says, "Failure base learning."
So, this whole thing was just about fail in one thing leads to another thing.
(Just saying but his stories were sad and inspiring to me.)
Yes, I liked that quote too!

Thats still amazing, I think the quote reflects his hole life! But didn't he die of cancer?
ReplyDeleteYes. He got cancer, they did the surgery and it went away, but he died from in when he got it a second time. Poor guy. I'd be interested to know how he "connects the dots" looking back on this. :)
DeleteWhen he says stay hungry, I think he means stay ambitious, keep trying. When he say stay foolish, he means don't be afraid to try new things.
ReplyDeleteMalcolm
Stay Hungry= Always be hungry for knowledge
ReplyDeleteStay Foolish= Try new things, make mistakes, be crazy!
Well I get from this video is I need to try my best, live life to it's fullest, and always crave knowledge. If someone is always doing something wrong things that person should try something different for a change. This is what I summed it up to be.
ReplyDelete1. Stay Hungry: stay hungry for knowledge
ReplyDeleteStay Foolish: everyone makes mistakes, you've just got to learn from them.
2. There are many things a person can do to become great, but before you become great you've got to make errors. You're not always going to do everything in life without messing up a few times. It's these mistakes that help you become great by showing you what to improve on.
~Isaiah Dean #4
What I got from it was that be hungry means never be satisfied with one accomplishment but always work to get better and make the world better. When he says be foolish he means don't be afraid to try new things because society says it's not "smart".

WOW! What to write.....Well, I took notes, so I'll just go in order of those. Connecting the dots. When he talks about how he "quit" college because "he thought it was pointless", that reminded of EliZabeths comment about how school is boring and has no point. I said, after some extent, yes, school is pointless. But like Steve Jobs, you just need to go with your gut. I thought it was kind of funny, because when he's talking about how beautiful and eloquent the calligraphy at Reed college was, he said it was something that science could not explain. then he goes on to say the when he was building the Mac, there was so much science that went into putting all the different fonts into it. Thought people like Zoe would find that...well I don't know, but it has to do with being technical, so. Anyway, then things like the phrase :"what wouldn't have happened if..." really get you thinking. What would have happened if the Redcoats won the Revolution, African Americans were still in slavery, the Germans won WW2. One can only wonder... Finally when he talks about connecting the dots, he said that there's needs to be something that keeps you going, like some sort of motivation. Well, mine is God.
ReplyDeletefoolish to me meant to make as many mistakes but not to much and hungry meant to be hungry for mistakes
ReplyDeleteWell, I watched this with my Mom and we both agreed on many things. One, that Steve Jobs was in general, a hardworking, but lucky man. He did work extremely hard, but was however very lucky in many ways. Two, that even though Steve Job did trust that everything "Worked Out" and it did for him, my mom and I agreed on the fact that that is not really in general a good principle to live out. We did however say that many people (including us) trust in something whether it's God:), your gut, or something else. Steve Jobs was a very lucky man, but he did work very hard and made a difference in our world.
