Getting Ready for the Getty I
Details in art are important. Today we learned that artists place details, like ants, for a reason. Additionally, apparently gifted children don't always automatically note details. So let's (that includes ME) get some practice.
Play (at least) these TWO games and comment on the experience OR on one of the images. Your comments should be 2 full, well-written sentences; they should detail specifics.
This was cool; it was fun....Does that sound like a thoughtful, gifted Room14er?

I enjoyed the body parts on Detail Detectives the most. I was challenging to find the part that fit the image. I recommend this one out of them all.
ReplyDeleteMatch Madness was easy, because it is a memory game, but Detail Detective was hard, because some of the details were blurry in the picture. Over all they were both very fun to play.
ReplyDeleteIn Detail Detective Creatures, I noticed I had to find small things in the pictures, like a rabbit in the corne. I had a hard time finding those ones, while bigger items were easier to find.

Match Madness is easy for me because I am exelent at remembering things like that. The Detail Detective though was so challenging becasue I'm not the kinda guy who can see stuff really close. Overall though, I recomend the Detaial Detective because it was more of a challenge.
ReplyDeleteIt really pays attention to very little detail, it was fun, but hard. It really uses brain thinking you don't use a lot.

Match Madness was very easy because it was simple, but Detail Detective was a different story. It was simple, but you had to race against the clock while searching for specific details.
ReplyDeleteI realized that although in Match Madness, nothing was preventing me to slow down, it was still more difficult than Detail Detective. I wanted my best time in both so I went fast no matter what. I discovered that since in Detail Detective has the same pictures and awnsers every time it was easy enough to get a 13 second time. Whereas on the match Madness a time of 54 seconds was made. So for me, Detail Detective was the better game.
ReplyDeleteI played the match madness and it was a lot of fun because I really like matching games and it brought back old memories of when I was a kid and played it with my parents. The second one was detail detective and it was really hard because at the last few sets they get really hard and challenging. The final one I played was the jigsaw puzzles because I like to do puzzles and it was cool how they let you pick how many pieces you want.

Playing Match Madness wasn't as hard as Detail Detective because we didn't have a time limit. Detail Detective was harder because we were finding details racing the clock, and sometimes, the thing we were supposed to find were too small to locate.
ReplyDeleteBoth Match madness and Detail Detective were challenging but also oddly fun. I like matching games like those and reminded me of Go Fish. I have to say that i think Detail detective was more challenging for me because racing the clock added pressure.

I thought detail detective was interesting because you actually had to look at the art itself, not the deeper meaning or the feeling. I think it is true that gifted kids have a harder time finding details.
ReplyDeleteDetail Detective and Match Madness you could tell were kid’s games but were difficult at times. Match Madness was harder for me than Detail Detective because when anyone first starts they have to always just guess where they think the same painting, pottery, or sculpture and they probably won't get it right. Then they have to guess where one of the two objects that they picked the first time. Most likely they will get that guess wrong too. Finally, after two or three times they see the same object that they already guessed but they forgot where the other one was and they get frustrated. I read all the other posts and they all think the Matching Madness is the easier one, but personally I think it is harder. Detail Detective even though it was timed was way easier for me. All you had to do was look at the object carefully and then the rest was easy. The trickiest one was the statue and you had to figure out which curls belonged to the wig.

ReplyDeleteI likedboth of the games, but my favorite was Match Madness. I t reminded me of Go Fish, which was one of my favorite games when I was a little kid. Detail Dectective was harder because you had to notice small details (such as the way someone's nose curves)and there was a time limit of 40 seconds. That allows for 4 seconds per question.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that. "Liked" and "both" are two separate words.
ReplyDeleteI liked Detail Detectives the best. I'm with Kacey, the body parts one was really fun.
ReplyDeleteDetail Detective was more challenging than Match Madness because there was a 40-second time limit, and the details were hard to notice. Locating small details is not a problem for me, but the time was what really threw me off since I can't handle pressure.

I really liked the Detail Detective game because I really liked spotting out tiny details in busy paintings. Matching games aren't my favorite activity now, but for some reason I really liked them when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteOn Detail Detective, the most I got right was 8/10, because I just ran out of time. I think it would be interesting to look at the paintings in which the "wrong answers" were found. I never got to play Match Madness because it never loaded. :(
ReplyDeleteI played "Match Halves" and finished it in 2 minutes and 11 seconds. I tried finishing it fast, but I would always end up accidentally clicking the wrong one. When I moved on to the detail detectives, I found that I liked it better. I tried the "body parts" game and on my first try I got 7 out of 10 right. I was determined to beat my score, so I tried it again. When I was doing it for the second time, my brother walked in to the room. He started to talk to me and I said, "WAIT! I'm being timed!" He sat down next to me and watched me beat my score by getting 100. :D
ReplyDeleteMatch Madness and Detail Detectives are both brain stimulating games. However, I found the Match Madness games harder for me. Remembering things has always been a challenge for me so the match madness games gave me quite the challenge. On Detail Detective I chose to play the Matching Pairs game. While playing it, I often confused one image for the other thus giving me a lousy score of 3:48. Even so, the detail detectives games were easier for me to accomplish because I am quite good at observing things. I was able to beat the Body Parts quiz with 9/10 on my first try due to my natural nick for observation and concentration. All in all these games have been fun to play and a great learning experience for me and I hope to further my learning through playing more of these games at a different time.
ReplyDeleteTo me both the games were made to trick our brains! I really got into them because they were both totally different. Match Madness was pretty easy to me because I do those a lot. Finally detail detective was pretty but the time through me off.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the games and I also enjoyed seeing what things I could do faster then others. On match madness I found that the Halves was really challenging for me. For some reason it didnt register as "the same" like a word and picture or two identical pictures did. I liked detail detective a lot too. I found out that I was the best at body parts. It might have to do with the fact that ppl are so good at recognizing faces (even if there isn't one). Over all I enjoyed the games and it was fun to learn what it was easier or harder to do. Some ppl would think of these as "baby games", because they are simple, but they are legitimate games that we can learn from.
ReplyDeleteThese games were really fun and some of them would trick me. The Body Part game tricked me because I know the answers but I kept clicking on the wrong one.
ReplyDeleteIn deatail detictive i figured out that deatails make a diffrence
ReplyDeleteIt also was hard but fun in many diffrent ways and i also learned if u miss one detail and it is an important one u will want to regret it
ReplyDeleteDetail Detective was very difficult because the differences were very small and well blended. Match Madness was also hard because to get the right answers, I had to guess the ones to flip. These activities helped me realized that details are important
ReplyDeleteThe games were tricky and hard. Especially the card match and the horse kept eluding me.AAAAHHHHHHHH
ReplyDeleteThese games were pretty easy but I had a little trouble with the match madness games because you had to take a guess without knowing what you were actually picking.
ReplyDeleteI thought both detail detective and match madness were fun. Match madness was harder, because you just had to make guesses. Detail detective was very easy and fun.
ReplyDeleteDetail detective was more fun to me. The time limit made me keep going until I got ten out of ten. Match madness would be better with a time limit.
ReplyDeleteI liked both games, but Detail Detective was more confusing. In Detail Detective, you actually had to look in different places than you usually do. In Match Madness, all you had to do was match objects.
ReplyDeleteI liked both of the games but they were kinda easy. i liked the pictures in the games but they used the same pics.

I thought that both games were very brain stimulating and fun. Though both of them were fairly easy but they were still challenging in their own way.
